Meet your 2007-2008 United Way of Queen Anne's County Board of Directors...
President, Robert McNutt Bob is serving his second term on the United Way board and agreed to serve as President for the 2007-2008 year. Bob brings with him a mixed background of business and education. He has had several business leadership / management positions with DuPont, has beent he Sr. VP of HR at Allfirst Bank and since 2001, he has been on the faculty at Lerner College of Business at the University of Delaware. He is also a Past President of Lerners Alumni Board and is on the Academic Advisory Committee at Chesapeake College. Bob is enthusiastic about education and says his passion is teaching. He also enjoys golf and water activities. The United Way of Queen Anne's County is blessed to have such a dynamic President!
Vice President, H. Wade Stonesifer Not only is Wade our Vice President, but he has been the committee chair for our Golf Tournament for many years. He passes the title of chairman to Carllene Hurd this year, but his organizational skills has made the transition a seemless one.
Treasurer, Carllene Hurd Carllene is serving her first term with the United Way and it didn't take long for her to step into the position of Treasurer. With her background in banking, it was a perfect fit! Carllene is the Branch Manager of the BankAnnapolis on Kent Island and is committed to giving back to the community. She serves on the Chamber of Commerce board, is the Treasurer for the Chesapeake Women's Network and heads up the Hospice of Queen Anne's Golf Tournament. She has brought new energy to the United Way and we are excited to see what the future holds with Carllene on board!
Secretary, Chip Brittingham Chip Britingham is a Certified Financial Planner and President of the International Money Management Group, Inc. and is very active in our community. In addition to serving on our board, Chip is a co-chair of the Chamber's Business/Education Committee, a Character Counts Coach and a member of the Lion's Club. He also sits on the Financial Advisory Committee for the Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department during their Capital Campaign to build a new station. Chip is a real asset to our board!
Past President, Gene Ransom Gene M. Ransom III, a life long resident of Queen Anne’s County, is a graduate of Queen Anne’s County public schools, an honors graduate of University of Maryland and a graduate of University of Baltimore School of Law. He is a partner in the law firm of Fogleman & Ransom and is about to serve his second term as a County Commissioner. The United Way of Queen Anne's County is truly blessed to have such an active community leader as such as active part of our board!
Board Member, Angie Price The United Way board is fortunate to have Angie Price, the editor for the Bay Times, serve on our board. Presently, she holds the title for the board member that has served the most terms! Angie helps keep us aware of not only the happenings on Kent Island, but county wide. She also does a fabulous job covering our events. This year she sat on our Self Assessment Committee and volunteered once again during the Golf Tournament. She's a committee member that knows how to get things done!
Board Member, Flora Sossi As Chair of our Allocation Application Committee, Flora is an important part of the United Way team! She is also active with the Kent Island Heritage Society. Flora and her husband, Delegate Dick Sossi, have been instrumental in keeping the United Way moving forward and flourishing!
Board Member, Debbie Kennedy Debbie Kennedy has served two terms with the United Way. She is active with our Golf Committee and more recently, has been working on the By-Laws Committee. Debbie is retired from the Department of Defense for 10 years. She and her husband raised 9 children (Yes, 9!) and now she enjoys spending time visiting them and her 18 grandchildren. On top of supporting the United Way or enjoying her family, she also finds the time to volunteer for the Institute for Adult Learning at Chesapeake College and she volunteers once a week at the Office fo the State's Attorney's in Anne Arundel County working on forfeiture issues. She's a dynamic lady and a real asset to the United Way!
Board Member, Wayne Humphries Wayne Humphries is serving his second term on the United Way's board of directors. He is also the Board President for the Foundation for Community Partnerships, Co-chair for the Character Counts Advisory Council, is active with the Partnering for Youth After School Program and Chairs the Adopt-A-Bear Program. This is not a complete list of organizations with which Wayne is involved. As you can tell, he has great interest in making our county a place where our children can flourish!
Board Member, Gail Ruppe Gail Ruppe is the Sales Manager for Chesapeake Life Magazine which is a lifestyles publication for the Chesapeake Bay Region. She lives in Stevensville with her husband Jack and their son, Timothy. Gail is an Annapolis Anne Arundel County Chamber Ambassador, on the board with the Entrepreneurs Exchange and the Leading Ladies Advisory Board, a Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center Auction Event Chair, past board member with the Chesapeake Women's Network, part of the Queen Anne's County Tricentennial Steering Committee and that's just some of the organizations with which she volunteers! Her wide scope of contacts through job related networking and experience in non-profit fundraising makes her a true asset to the United Way team!
Board Member, Merry Tobin Merry Tobin, a realtor with ERA Weese Realty lives in Stevensville with her husband Patrick. She serves on the local Chamber of Commerce board as the Treasurer, sits on the Board of Directors with the Bay Area Association of Realtors, the Chesapeake Women’s Network, the Queen Anne’s County Arts Council, the Antique Dealers Association of Maryland and is a Chairman for the Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center’s yearly “Wet and Wild” Auction Event. In her “spare time,” Merry runs an antique business in Galena and exhibits at shows and enjoys visiting her son in Colorado when she can.
Board Member, Cecile Weich Cecile Weich and her husband Robert have made their home in Chester overlooking Crab Alley Bay. They have two sons, one of whom is in law, the other medicine, and five grandchildren. As a full time attorney with a diverse general practice, Cecile is renown for her work specializing in women’s rights and her cases run the gamut from matrimonial to constitutional. She practices law in New York, Washington DC and has built a practice on Kent Island over the last three years. Ms. Weich has published extensive articles, and is often consulted by the press as an expert on legal and women's issues. Cecile is member of the Bronx Chamber, QAC Chamber, Chesapeake Women’s Network, and Gateway Republican Women and serves on the board of Business Queen Anne’s.
Board Member, Joe Downey Joe has been with Five Star Mortgage, located in Stevensville, since it's inception on Kent Island in 2003. He is a certified mortgage planning specialist. Joe is passionate about all aspects of business and enjoys working with small business owners on development, marketing and innovation. Besides being the newest member to the United Way, Joe is also a member of the A.A.Co. Chamber and the QAC's Character Counts! through the QAC Chamber. He is also a member of Vision (young Pro's of QA County), Certifiied Mortgage Planning Specialist Institute (CMPS) and Maryland Association of Mortgage Brokers (MAMB). In his spare time he enjoys sportfishing with family and friends. We look forward to having Joe on our board with his business experience and his enthusiasm in making a difference in Queen Anne's County!

Executive Director, Sandra Early Sandra owns "Sandra's Office Support" and the United Way of Queen Anne's County is one of her clients. She has a background that includes book keeping, event planning, and is very familiar with non-profits. (She worked 6 years for the local Chamber of Commerce and the Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department is another client of hers.) Sandra is a Character Counts! Coach and is active with the Chesapeake Women's Network. She serves on their board of directors and is a Past President. In her spare time, Sandra likes to be with her family. She has two teenage boys, Harry and Tyler, and has been married to her husband, Harry for almost 18 years.
