
President, Carllene Hurd
Carllene is serving her second tern with the United Way and it didn't take long for her to step into the position of President. With her motivation and her background in banking, it is a perfect fit! Carllene is the Branch Manager of the BankAnnapolis on Kent Island and is committed to giving back to the community. She serves on the Chamber of Commerce board, and is the Treasurer for the Chesapeake Women's Network and heads up the Hospice of Queen Anne's Golf Tournament. She has brought new energy to the United Way and we are excited to see what holds with Carllene on board!

Vice President, Paula Warner
Paula is the owner of Paula's Fine Jewelry, a full service family jewelry store specializing in jewelry, keepsakes and gifts for the whole family, located in Chester. Paula is an avid community supporter of numerous philanthropic events including Adopt-A-Bear, the Bosom Buddy Ball, the Wet-N-Wild Auction of the Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center, the Black Tie White Boots Affair of the Queen Anne's Chamber of Commerce and the Nickelby Project. In addition, Paula's Fine Jewelry is a Business of Character for the Queen Anne's County Character Counts program. Ms. Warner is a member of the Chesapeake Women's Network, Queen Anne's County Chamber of Commerce, Business Queen Anne's and the Republican Women of Queen Anne's County. Her professional memberships include the Jewelers of America and the Retail Jewelers Organization. Paula has earned a graduate diploma in diamonds from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) where she also completed extesive studies in colored gemstones. Ms. Warner is currently completing her graduate gemologist diploma program at GIA. "As a businesswoman and member of this community I believe that finding time to give back to strengthen our community is essential. I look forward to lending my support to the United Way," says Ms. Warner.

Treasurer, Diana Waterman
Diana Waterman is the Financial Records Manager with Coldwell Banker Waterman Realty, so it is a perfect fit to have Diana as the Treasurer. She lives in Queenstown with her husband, Barry, and their two children, Kevin and Caty. With her children away at college, Diana keeps busy as the President of the Chesapeake Republican Women, as the Eastern Shore Regional Chair of the Maryland Federation of Republican Women and is a member of the Queen Anne's County Republican Central Committee. She also loves to read and play with their four dogs...in her "free" time! Mrs. Waterman has a special place in her heart for the Girl Scouts as she was a part of the organization most of her life and looks forward to working with them as a United Way agency

Secretary, Gail Ruppe
Gail Ruppe is the District Sales Manager of Internet Specialty Products for IDEARC MEDIA. She lives in Stevensville with her husband Jack and their son, Timothy. Gail is an Annapolis Anne Arundel County Chamber Ambassador, on the board with the Entrepreneurs Exchange and the Leading Ladies Advisory Board, a Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center Auction Event Chair, past board member with the Chesapeake Women's Network, part of the Queen Anne's County Tricentennial Steering Committee and that's just some of the organizations with which she volunteers! Her wide scope of contacts through job related networking and experience in non-profit fundraising makes her a true asset to the United Way team!

Past President, Gene Ransom
Gene M. Ransom III, a life long resident of Queen Anne’s County, is a graduate of Queen Anne’s County public schools, an honors graduate of University of Maryland and a graduate of University of Baltimore School of Law. He is a partner in the law firm of Fogleman & Ransom and is serving his second term as a County Commissioner. The United Way of Queen Anne's County is truly blessed to have such an active community leader as such an active part of our board!

Board Member, Merry Tobin
Merry Tobin, a realtor with ERA Weese Realty lives in Stevensville with her husband Patrick. She serves on the local Chamber of Commerce board as the Treasurer, sits on the Board of Directors with the Bay Area Association of Realtors, the Chesapeake Women’s Network, the Queen Anne’s County Arts Council, the Antique Dealers Association of Maryland and is a Chairman for the Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center’s yearly “Wet and Wild” Auction Event. In her “spare time,” Merry runs an antique business in Galena and exhibits at shows and enjoys visiting her son in Colorado when she can.

Board Member, Lorraine Moore
Lorraine has been a manager for Spectrum Painting for 17 years and is a travel agent for Spanning the Globe. She has been in the travel business for almost 30 years. She is a member of the Queen Anne's County Chamber of Commerce, the International Association of Travel Agents and various specialist travel affiliations. When she is not working, she herself enjoys traveling with her family and being outdoors. Lorraine resides in Grasonville with her husband Tom and their two daughters, Michelle and Kate. The United Way is happy to welcome Lorraine on the board.

Board Member, Angie Price
Angie Price, editor of the Bay Times, is coming back to the board after taking a year off. Price served previously on the board and has volunteered for a varitey of United Way committees and projects in the past. She has been editor of Kent Islands local newspaper, the Bay Times, for 16 years. She is active in the community and believes all the United way member agencies are important communtiy assets that deserve our support. Price is also a member of the Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department Advisory Council, a longtime media representative on the Queen Anne's county local Emergency Planning Committee and has served more than 10 years on the Queen Anne's County Council for Children and Youth. She is married to Roger and they have two children Sararh, 16 and Abby 9.

Board Member, Chad Helfenbein
Lifelong resident of Queen Anne’s County, Chad Helfenbein comes from a family of philanthropists starting with his father, Tom, who is one of the original board members of the local United Way. Helfenbein has served on many non-profit boards such as the Queen Anne’s County Chamber of Commerce and the Kent Island Rotary Club and is a director of the family owned Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Homes. He lives on Kent Island with his wife and children.

Board Member, Rev. Janet Rochester
Rev. Janet Rochester bring a north county voice back to the board she lives in Church Hill. She is a past president for the Church Hill Town Commission, a life member of the Queen Anne's County Commission on Aging, belongs to the NAACP, serves on the MLK Committee, and coordinates the Angel Food Ministry just to name a few of the many board and volunteer activities with which she is involved.

Board Member, Andrew Langer
Andrew Langer is the president of the Institute for Liberty, an advocacy organization dedicated to defending the rights of individuals to pursue the American dream. According to Langer, he has a “passionate commitment to public service and a desire to help those in need.” He lives in Centreville with his wife, Lt. Colonel Janice Langer and their two children and he is eager to get more involved in the community.

Board Member, Andi Morony
Centreville resident, Andi Morony is the chief of staff for Del. Michael Smigiel and has worked in the past for Sen. E.J. Pipkin. She brings with her an enthusiasm for community outreach, an understanding of the issues facing our county and a take charge attitude to get things done! She is presently the corresponding secretary for the Maryland Federation of Republican Women, president of the Republican Club of Queen Anne's County, and vice president of the Chesapeake Republican Women. Morony's “spare” time is spent with her husband and children.

Executive Director, Sandra Early
Sandra owns "Sandra's Office Support" and the United Way of Queen Anne's County is one of her clients. She has a background that includes book keeping, event planning, and is very familiar with non-profits. (She worked 6 years for the local Chamber of Commerce and the Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department is another client of hers.) Sandra is a member of the Chesapeake Women's Network and is a Past President. In her spare time, Sandra likes to be with her family. She has two sons, Harry and Tyler, and has been married to her husband, Harry for 20+ years.
