Alzheimer’s Association is dedicated to eliminating Alzheimer’s disease through advancement of research and to enhance care & support for individuals, their families & caregivers. There are approximately 700 people with Alzheimer’s in Queen Anne’s County. These numbers are expected to increase.
Epilepsy Association of the Eastern Shore provides a local, non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention and control of epilepsy.
American Red Cross, QA’s County Chapter serves the State of Delaware and Queen Anne's, Kent, Cecil, Talbot, Caroline and Dorchester Counties in Maryland. Humanitarian organization led by volunteers, that helps people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. Disaster Relief and Armed Forces Emergency Services are available 24/7, free of charge, to local families. The Red Cross also trains communities in life-saving skills like CPR and First Aid, and vulnerable people living alone can benefit from Lifeline personal medical alert systems.
Midshore Council on Family Violence, Inc. wants to eliminate domestic violence through intervention and prevention by providing shelter, counseling, and advocacy, and by changing society’s attitudes. In Queen Anne’s County, an average of ten families are served each month.
Hospice of Queen Anne’s, Inc. enhances the quality of life by comprehensive team care to patients facing a terminal illness and their families through a skilled, hospice-trained staff.
St. Martin’s Ministries mission is to help basic human needs of impoverished people and to respect and affirm their dignity through A) St. Martin’s Barn, a program to help feed, clothe, and financially assist residents in need, and B) St. Martin’s House, which provides housing for women from dysfunctional, diverse backgrounds.
Christmas In April organizes a one-day blitz with volunteers each spring to renovate homes for the low-income elderly and disabled homeowners in Queen Anne’s County.
QA’s County Adult Day Care Foundation provides Adult Day Care scholarships to low income individuals, not on Medicaid, who are eligible for nursing home placement but could retain their independence in the community.
For All Seasons, Inc. provides non-duplicated, low cost, support programs for individuals & families in our communities who might otherwise “fall through the gaps”.
Bethel Summer Program enriches the lives of young people in a holistic way by providing programs to meet educational, physical, social, emotional, cultural & vocational needs. This program addresses issues such as school dropout, adolescent behaviors that result in crime and/or violence, homicide/suicide, health and hygiene, substance abuse, teen pregnancy, and values. Chesapeake Girl Scouts serves girls throughout our diverse society, by providing opportunities to develop their potential, increase their understanding of others & to become a vital part of their community.
Kent Island Federation of Arts provides an opportunity for people of all ages to better appreciate the visual arts and develop their own creative and artistic skills through education programs and public exhibition of art.
Queen Anne’s Chorale offers singers an opportunity to increase their knowledge & appreciation of choral repertoire; enrich the community by providing Chorale concerts.
QA’s County Arts Council, Inc. promotes, expand, and sustain the arts in Queen Anne’s County.
Chesapeake Youth Chorale creates “Excellence in Music” bringing young people from around the area & offering music to the audience.
Community Mediation Upper Shore's mission is to create a clear understanding of the mediation process as an alternative for conflict resolution, provide mediation services at no cost wherever the need arises.
Easter Seals of Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore wants to increase the independence of children and adults with disabilities and other special needs through direct services, advocacy, and environments such as Fairlee Manor Recreation and Education Center, the only fully-accessible facility providing residential camping opportunities on the Eastern Shore for children and adults with a wide variety of developmental and physical disabilities, from mild to severe.
Partnering For Youth After School Program provides evidence-based after school programs to high school students, that empower students to excel academically, grow socially, and become future productive citizens.
Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center promotes environmental education, research, restoration and conservation through emphasis on the Chesapeake Bay.
Caring and Sharing helps families in Queen Anne's County with emergencies such as: rent, electric bills, medicines, etc.
Bay Area Young Life provides a safe environment for adolescents to come and enjoy their friends while sharing the good news of Jesus Christ through caring adults
Queen Anne's County Museum of Eastern Shore Life promotes greater understanding and appreciation of the regions cultural and natural heritage with an emphasis on agricultural and maritime activities.
